Use this to validate sessions/day in your ROI Calculator. Sites with < 5 sessions/stall/day rarely justify DC fast capital without anchor demand.
Frequently asked questions
What's a realistic capture rate?
0.3–0.6% of EVs passing your site is normal for retail/destination locations. NEVI corridor sites with strong amenities can reach 1%+. Below 0.2% indicates poor visibility or amenity fit.
What's a healthy utilization rate?
Mature California DC fast sites run 15–25% utilization. Anything above 30% signals undersized capacity (stall queueing). Below 8% means oversized for current demand.
How does charger kW affect utilization?
Higher kW reduces session time, increasing the theoretical sessions per stall per day. A 350 kW stall can serve more sessions than a 150 kW stall — but only if demand exists.
